Canis lupusThis is a featured page

Canis lupusThe photo to the right is a picture of a Canis lupus. That is the scientific name for gray wolf. This is the most common wolf in the world, but, it has many different names. In the eastern woodlands it is called the timber wolf, in the arctic it is known as the arctic wolf. And in the tundra it is known as the tundra wolf or the snow wolf. In fact, the rain forest and true desert areas are the only areas it has not adapted to. The gray wolf is the largest of the canines. The gray wolf comes in many differant colors despite it's name. It comes in white, brown, gray, black, and occasionaly a tawny color. The males are 20% larger than the females and both sexes get larger the farther north they are found.
